— About me, social media, and how to get in touch
Caroline Dignes is an interdisciplinary artist using the mediums of textiles and contemporary circus to express the joy of the human experience with live audiences.
As a textile artist for costumes, Caroline works with costume designers to create custom textile effects, surface treatments, and designs for theatrical costumes. As an illustration, this work often entails making new clothes look old - subtle and subconscious details like this help to tell the story. Caroline has worked for theaters around the globe, including Opera Australia, The Oregon Shakespeare Festival, The San Francisco Opera, The Santa Fe Opera, and Det Kongelige Teater.
As a contemporary circus performer, Caroline is best known for her lighthearted and engaging performances on aerial hoop and silks. With a background in dance, theater, rock climbing and high lining, Caroline explores aerial performance in both indoor and outdoor settings. When performing outdoors Caroline takes aerial to new heights. From 800 meters high on Yosemite National Park’s lost arrow spire to dolerite columns off coastal Tasmania, Caroline has performed around the world in stunning landscapes of cliffs, oceans, and mountains. Caroline believes contemporary circus to be the juxtaposition of the realm of possible with impossible. When coupled with elements of real objects or experiences from our daily lives it creates a surreal dream world of joyful and compelling performance. She has shared this passion while performing and teaching throughout the Western United States and Australia.
